I Made Me a Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes
I like sandwiches. They're a fun format of food. I feel like they're edible cocktails - you match flavors and contrasts to create something complex and fun.
Today I made a sandwich with:
- A simple white flour bun, sliced in half (duh), drizzled with olive oil and heated on a skillet
- Chorizo Riojano that my girlfriend brought from Spain
- Mayonaise
- Tandoori spice (just a bit)
- Tomato (sliced, salted, THEN put into the sandwich. Salting helps)
- Fresh spinach leaves
- Mashed potatoes
The mashed potatoes were a bet - I've got the idea from a now-closed hot dog shop, where the mashed potatoes really complemented the rest.
They kinda worked here, but next time I should add something crunchy to balance it - fried onion, chips or maybe just some fresh lettuce. Well, eating is a fun way to learn :)
